Snow White Inspired
My little family of five just got back from a week-long vacation to Disneyland. Three of my siblings and their families went, too. It is the most magical place. I loved every little thing about our trip there. Anyway, on our Disneyland trip I planned out some new posts/patterns for you, but they take time. So, today, I’m sharing a couple of projects I made that are inspired by Snow White.
The first is this romper I made for my two-year-old.
I followed the Charlotte Romper pattern by 5 Berries, but changed up the flutter sleeves. I sewed the two different fabrics together to get the Snow White look and lined them. The pattern was a little hard to follow, in my opinion. The finishing of the arm hole and sleeves via the directions was to either finish with a serger or zigzag stitch. I followed the directions on my arm holes and they are sketchy-looking. Thus, the reason I lined my flutter sleeves. It turned out pretty darn cute in the end and fit fine.
I also made my two-year-old a Snow White inspired dress. I couldn’t resist this cute Seven Dwarves fabric at Joann’s. It’s matched with a Michael Miller apple and polka dot fabric. I used a PDF pattern by Fresh Stitch Patterns called the Banksia Play Dress. I was up late the night before we left finishing it. Thankfully, I love how it turned out.
I’ve been hoping for a girly girl that would love to wear whatever I sewed for her. My oldest daughter is not at all girly and does not love to wear handmade. She’s crafty and loves to bake, though – two of my other favorite things to do – so I can’t complain. Quinn hasn’t shown any interest in dresses or getting her hair done and such either until the last couple of weeks. Yesterday she had me help her change her outfit four times into different dresses. You’d think that would be frustrating but I was thrilled! She’s started asking for ponytails and tights too. Hooray!! I’ll be sewing her up some new outfits ASAP before she changes her mind!
This is her riding on the carousel at California Adventure. She was the perfect age for this trip. Excited about every character she saw and happy to be there.
I’ve also made some of these cute Snow White inspired banners. I thought about doing a tutorial and posting my pattern for this one but didn’t think too many readers would be searching for a Snow White banner tutorial. 🙂 Ha! The little bows make me happy. Do you have the song “I’m Wishing” stuck in your head now? Quinn and I sure do.
That’s all for today. Hopefully you’ve noticed I’ve been trying to post more original content with lots of how-tos, patterns, and tutorials lately. I’ll be back soon with more! Thanks for reading!
